Your ranking is your position in a category, ordered by your rating. A new player starts from the highest level they have played, and the rating moves after each verified match, so the ranking moves with it. #1 is the highest rating in that category. Only sanctioned results count.
A category has its own list, so you can be #1 in one and #4 in another. There is no season to accumulate and no points to collect — a ranking is a place, not a score.

Table tennis results you can trust
TTRA runs the official table tennis rankings. Every result comes from a sanctioned tournament, run by an approved organiser to TTRA's rules. That way a ranking means the same thing wherever you play.
Approved organisers run every event to TTRA's rules: entries, draws and the schedule. Only sanctioned events count towards rankings.
Every score is recorded at the tournament and held to TTRA's rules. Results that count carry this mark: Verified
Results show as soon as they're recorded. Ratings and rankings update when a category is finished, from verified results only.
Your events, entries, draws and results are in the organiser console.
Your ranking is your position in a category, ordered by your rating — #1, #2, #3. Every category keeps its own list, so you can be #1 in one and #4 in another.
A ranking is a place, not a score. Your rating is the number that moves; the ranking is where that number puts you.
You start from the highest level you have played: 1,000 recreational up to 1,650 national. Every verified match then moves it, and the change counts once the category is finished. Before a match, the gap between two ratings gives each player an expected chance of winning. Win when you were expected to lose and you gain a lot; lose when you were expected to win and you drop a lot.
A player rated 100 higher is expected to win about 64% of the time. At 200 higher, about 76%.
